Letters Patent granted by Richard Cromwell as \"Lord Protector of the Commonwealth of England, Scotland & Ireland\" ratifying the transfer of messuage and lands in the Parish of Wootton, Buckinghamshire from William Mayle and Thomas Pendred to John Smith and Edward Penrce, in early modern English, large decorated document on parchment [England, dated 10th November 1658] Large single sheet charter, in an excellent English secretarial hand, opening line in ornamental capitals with capitals encased in pen work, one very large initial \'R\' (opening \"Richard Lord Protector ...\") in calligraphic pen work, enclosing grey-wash flower, with further foliage filling upper border in same, the scribe adding his name to lower right-hand foot and at head of seal tags, large fragment of wax adhering to seal tag, signs of folding. A fine and handsome document from Commonwealth and Protectorate England.The document is written in a very neat hand, some minor dust soiling and light rubbing, fully legible with no loss of words, which is unusual for this type of document.The document measures 69 cm × 48 cm
