As Brother Losch mentioned on JW Broadcasting in the video \"A Bible Exhibition Glorifying Jehovah\'s Name,\" many historic Bibles are on display at the Watchtower Museum in Warwick, NY today. One of them is the Greek translation of Erasmus. We now have a facsimile of the Greek Erasmus Bible translation.
In 1516, Erasmus published his first edition of the New Testament in Greek - the first printed edition of the Christian Greek scriptures ever published. Erasmus\' work included annotations and his own translation of the Christian Greek scriptures into Latin, which was different from the Vulgate. Over time, he revised his version and resulted in an end product that contained even more dramatic deviations from the text of the Latin Vulgate. One of the differences was in 1 John 5: 7. In order to support the unscriptural teaching of the Trinity, a few incorrect words, known as the comma Johanneum, have been added to the Vulgate. They read: \"In Heaven the Father, the Word and the Holy Spirit: and these three are one. However, Erasmus excluded these words from his first two editions of the New Testament because none of the Greek manuscripts he consulted contained them. He was later pressured by the Church to include it in his third edition.Improved Erasmus editions of the Greek New Testament provided the basis for better translations into European languages. Martin Luther, William Tyndale, Antonio Brucioli and Francisco de Enzinas used them to translate the Greek writings into German, English, Italian and Spanish.[This Bible is shown at JWbroadcasting in the video \"A Bible Exhibit That Glorifies Jehovah\'s Name\"].
