 1872 framed certificate for the acceptance of \"Will L. Douglass Jr Esq\"

into the OUAM (Order of United American Mechanics.\")

More specifically the \"Titus Council No. 273.\"

(There is a lot of background info on this fraternal society online, and really had little to do with

mechanics. Basically an American patriotic society that backed producing and buying American products,

and supporting the American work force.)

Signed by two witnesses, one being John A. Bayard. The other surname was covered by a seal.

William Larimer Douglass Jr Esq. (and Bayard) were longtime residents of Elizabeth Township (Boston) PA.

They were both very active in civic affairs for many years.

The frame measures 22-1/2 x 18-1/2 and is in very good condition and appears to be original.

The certificate under glass is worn in some areas and the bottom left corner is missing.

There are several wrinkles, some water marks, and a tape repair.

There is also one tear (see photo).

The back of the frame has old paper remnants where the backing paper was removed.

The back wire is strong, so the frame is ready to hang.

Overall the certificate is completely legible and maintains great color and graphic details.

I have also a couple of bios and obits. These are NOT included with the sale of the certificate, but the buyer is welcome to print them out as a reference.
