The thermal protective suit together with the cosmonaut\'s underwear, the flight and immersion suits enables the wearer to remain up to 72 hours in environments with an ambient air temperature of -50°C or warmer and a windspeed of up to 10 m/s. It also ensures survival for 12 hours while staying afloat at the water temperature of -1°C (30 degrees F) or warmer. The Russian abbriviation TZK stands for \"teplo-zaschitnyi kostum\" (thermal protective suit).
