Two sandblasted English pipes from the 1950s, one with shallow and one with deep sandblasting.

Bewlay pipes (which stopped being produced in the early 1960s) were made by top English companies such as Barling, Sacieni e.a. Why we have added "by Barling?" on the title? In the 'Barling 150th Anniversary Catalogue 1812-1962' issued in 1962 we find the shape 3225 with sandblasted finish, which has the exact same size with the pipe for sale (which is numbered 322 and has the word 'SANDBLAST' written exactly the same way as it is written on the Barling). We do not believe this is a coincidence (see the photos). 

The Bewlay for sale is a straight apple with saddle mouthpiece, medium size bowl (similar to something between Dunhill's Group 2 and Group 3 in size) and excellent shallow sandblasting. It has been smoked a little and lightly and is in near mint condition without faults.

The Dr Mc Quade is a bent billiard with medium size bowl (similar to Dunhill's Group 3 in size). Dr Mc Quidi was a sub-brand of the English (up to the early 1970s, later the company moved to Denmark) BEN WADE. In the 1960s the BEN WADE were being made by Charatan, so this pipe is made during the pre-Charatan period of the company (i.e. before 1960). See also in the last photo the oxidation on its stem before it was cleaned.

This pipe has also been smoked very little and is in near mint (we could probably say mint) condition.

The straight has approximate length 132 mm (5.20"), bowl height 38 mm (1.50"), chamber depth 31 mm (1.22"), chamber diameter 17mm (0.67") and weighs 26 gr (0.92 oz). Shank Marks : Bewlay [script, underlined, logo], SANDBLAST, LONDON MADE, O, 322 - Stem Marks : B [on the side]

The bent has approximate diagonal length 129 mm (5.08"), bowl height 47 mm (1.85"), chamber depth40 mm (1.57"), chamber diameter 18 mm (0.71") and weighs 34 gr (1.20oz). Shank Marks : Dr Mc Quade, LONDON MADE - Stem Marks : smoking man silhouette logo [in oval, on the side]

Both pipes do not take filters and have original vulcanite stems.
