\"Dalawepi\" is the Hopi name Ergil Vallo was given. Dalawepi means \"colors of the rainbow\". Dalawepi Hopi/Acoma heritage, was born in 1959 and he passed away in 2005.Dalawepi specialized in hand coiled black pottery that he incised with symbols important to the Native American culture in the Southwest. The incised work on this bowl consists of a long haired kachina, a bear, ears of corn and mudhead kachinas. These carvings are highlighted with contrasting colors of the rainbow with the darkest colors at the bottom of the bowl to the lightest hews toward the top of the bowl. Originally, these colors were found in the plants common in the Southwest United States. Dalawepi used some natural pollen in addition to minerals to create these vibrant colors found around the bowl. The top opening of this bowl is 3 5/8\" in diameter and is 3 5/8\" tall and has a 2\" base. The bowl is 5 1/2\" at it\'s widest point. Dalawepi signed the bottom of the bowl \"Dalawepi, NM\".
