💰Silver Strike coin from Bill's Lake Tahoe. Bill's was a Casino located in Stateline, Nevada owned and operated by and connected to next-door Harrah's Lake Tahoe.

●Bill's opened during the 50th Anniversary of Harrah's in 1987 and was named in honor of William F. Harrah. There was no hotel, although there was an on-site tattoo parlor. Bill's also hosted UFC pay per view fights at all of its bars. In January 2007, Bill's became the only non-smoking casino in Tahoe. After years of business decline, Bill's Casino closed its doors for good January 4, 2010.

● Silver Casino Strike Token was used from 'BILL'S CASINO NORTH SHORE, LAKE TAHOE Silver Strike Slot' machines. Putting an Eisenhower silver dollar in the slot machine at Gambling halls, mostly, in Nevada, and AC, one would receive this token as a win.

● Casino silver strike tokens were first produced by the Franklin Mint for Harrah's Reno and Lake Tahoe casinos in 1965, when the rising price of silver made the use of actual silver dollars for gaming purposes problematic. Good only in the issuing casino, these coins could be dropped into slot machines or tossed on a card table to place a bet.

● The Heyday of the casino silver tokens was short-lived thanks to the arrival of the Eisenhower or "Ike" dollar in 1971. While millions of collectible silver strikes of the Ike dollar contained 40 percent silver, tens of millions more general circulation coins were made of nothing but copper and nickel. Because of this new supply of non-silver dollars, the practice of minting tokens for the casinos ceased as well as the usage of the Silver Strike Slot Machines.

● As I can remember, when the 'Eisenhower Dollar' was removed from circulation in 1978, and so were most slot machines accepting the Silver dollars in the casinos. They were given the green light to get back into the silver strike token business, which they did enthusiastically in 1979, so that the tokens from that year remain plentiful for collectors.
