He earned a B.A. in English from Southern Methodist University and an M.A. in Higher Education Administration at The George Washington University. Marc married Mary Donahue on September 5, 1953. He served two tours each in the Korean and Vietnamese conflicts. During his military career, he commanded every size Marine unit, from a rifle platoon of 40 people to a division of 25,000. He headed the Marine Corps Institute, was Assistant Director of the Marine Corps Command and Staff College, and Director of the Division of English, History, and Philosophy at the U.S. Naval Academy. General Moore's last assignment prior to retirement from the Marines in 1982 was U.S. Representative to the Security Treaty Joint Committee in Japan and the United Nations Representative to the Government of Japan. Since 1982, General Moore has participated as a member of American delegations to conferences in the Soviet Union, China, and Northeast Asia as a specialist in international security affairs, and has authored a number of published articles in strategy, leadership, and military history. Since his retirement he has also been an active member of the community serving as a member of the President's Advisory Council at CSUSM, as the Chancellor of National University in Vista for several years, and as an active member and supporter of the Church of St. Timothy in Escondido. Major General Moore was also instrumental in starting the Marine Corps Museum at MCRD and worked with Dr. Fran Aleshire to found Leadership 2000.
