Plate with view of the Hôtel de Ville (City Hall of Paris)
Robert - c. 1806
Presented by Napoléon to Jean Jacques Cambacérès on the occasion of his niece’s wedding, this plate is from an 80+ piece service. It depicts the Hôtel de Ville, the city hall of Paris, where the Emperor would have celebrations for both his coronation and his marriage to Marie-Louise. This is one of the few views of the Hôtel de Ville from the period.
