( CELL PHONE USERS PLEASE CLICK THE "SEE FULL DESCRIPTION" LINK BELOW FOR MORE DETAILS AND PHOTOGRAPHS! ) Rare Original French Revolution / Napoleonic Wars (1790-1815 )Hand Forged Iron Spontoon / Pike Head Rare Original French Revolution / Napoleonic Wars (1790-1815 )Hand Forged Iron Spontoon / Pike Head Click images to enlarge Description Up for Consideration is a Rare Original Marked Late-18th Century, c.1793 Hand Forged 22.5 inch long Iron French Spontoon / Pike Head used in the French Revolutionary or Napoleonic War marked A.N. for Armée Nationale! c1790-1815 Offered to you is this Amazing late 18th Century French Blacksmith Hand Forged Iron French Military Pike head measuring 22.50 inches long by 2.0 inches at the widest part with a 1.10 inches opening at the base. The is had Engraved letters .A.N. on one side representing the "Armée Nationale" . These types a of Pike Heads were primarily used by French Militia Groups and had long Ash wood or hafts poles extending up to 12 feet long, sometimes displayed with a decapitated head from a recent execution but mainly used in battle to cripple horse charges or large group attacks.
This Rare Artifact had been on display in a Private Museum in Worcester , Massachusetts for many years since then.
Condition is Very Nice for it's age, with usual ware and untouched Patina and only very some light pitting with remittance of the wood Haft still present.
