Spectacular specimen of fluorite on sphalerite from the famous Elmwood mine complex in Smith Co., TN. This specimen exhibits the naturally occurring dissolution etching on the exterior faces of the fluorite as well as the desirable color zoning & near perfect formation associated with the locale. Under both long & short wave UV, this specimen has exceptional fluorescence.
As of January 1, 2024, the Elmwood mine system is no longer in operation & no projected date for reopening has been announced. Since this time, both the demand & cost for examples from this revered American locale have began to skyrocket.
