The painted scene on the plaque pays homage to similarscenes of Putti at play which can be found on much earlier Wedgwood pieces,including Jasperware plaques made during the George III period (usually1760-1800). Joseph Palin Thorley circa 1910 painted the four cupids carrying agarland of flowers, a flaming torch, a trumpet, and one accompanied by a goat. The plaque is stamped on the rear with the maker’s mark\"Wedgwood Made in England\". The frame is 7 inches) square. The plaque is 3.25 inches diameter. The plaque and frame are in very good condition with novisible chips or cracks. This piece was purchased on a trip to Hamilton Bermuda at AS Cooper and Sons; The high-end mercantile store operated from 1897 through2021 when Covid impacted their business. This Wedgwood piece would be a beautiful gift for a Wedgwoodcollector; Although classical in design, it would add a beautiful touch to anyroom in your home or office See my other listing for a coordinating piece.
