This is a hand carved wood bald eagle that is entirely hand carved out of wood and hand painted. The eagle itself was carved by a regionally local artist named Dave Ahrandt. He and his wife are both artists and make individual pieces separately and some together. Both of their names are signed on the base of this piece. The bottom half of the piece is an actual piece of driftwood that was cut and used as the base for the eagle. The eagle is firmly mounted to the driftwood by a steel hook that is mounted into the back of the eagle. The eagle lifts on and off of the base. The bottom of the driftwood has a bolt shank that slides through any hole that can be drilled into any base of any kind. The bolt has washers and a large nut that tightens down the entire sculpture. This piece was made approximately 25 years ago to the best of my knowledge. I inherited it from my father years ago but am just not into this kind of art so I am looking for a good home for it. The measurements of this eagle are all approximate and are as follows. The sculpture as a whole stands 4 feet tall, the eagles wing span is right at 4 feet in width. The height of the driftwood beneath the eagle from the mounting surface to the bottom of the eagle is about 2 feet. To my knowledge the piece has never been damaged, dropped or misshandled in any way. The eagle has no visible flaws. I will not ship this piece, it is for local pick up only. If you wish to buy it, I know that it can be easily disassembled and transported.
