Old Mexican Fighting knife. Age unknown but there is a Mexican copper peso coin with a hole cut in it, used as a washer between the Eagle finial and the carved bone handle. The date stamped on the coin is 1945. The blade has desert scene with " Hecho in Oaxaca, (Mexico) and the Initials, G.M. on one side and " Palomas no se hagan bola que ahi les va su gavilan" etched on the reverse side. it has a built in bottle opener. would make a great conversation piece for a home bar, man cave or outdoor kitchen. Obviously handmade in Mexico, it has been in my possession for almost 30 years.
It has a visible crack in the handle however it was repaired with epoxy and does not prevent it being used. It's sharp but, as with many old Mexican knives, the quality of the steel is not great so don't expect it to be a great carving knife. There is no sheath for it. I just used it for display and never felt the need to make or buy one. The blade is a great piece of metal folk-art and of interest to anyone who like metal work or Mexican crafts.
