Offered for your consideration is a vintage CHAMP lighter, manufactured in Austria c.1960. The CHAMP features a matte chrome-plated case with black protective wrap-around panels and measures 2 3/16” tall by 1½” wide by ½” thick, very similar dimensions to a full-size Zippo. Plus, it features a swing away chimney for lighting pipes or to use as a temporary torch light.

This CHAMP lighter is in clean, very good condition. The case is in nice shape with no dings or notable scratches, just some minor oxidation on the edges adjacent to the well-preserved, grip-friendly wrap. Plus, the hinge is in good order with just a tiny bit of play or wiggle and the halves align properly. Overall, this old Austrian lighter presents very nicely.

Most importantly, it’s working great now but did need some attention when I first got it. This CHAMP had been stored-away for many years with a flint still inside, which decayed into a stubborn mortar that was blocking the channel as is typical. I carefully cleared the flint channel by hand with a very small screwdriver, inserted a fresh flint, and filled it with yellow-bottle Ronson lighter fluid. It fired right up and is a strong performer as seen in the photo down below. And, yes, the flame is normally smaller. The photo was taken minutes after I filled it, and I didn\'t wait for the flame to settle down!
