Good morning all. Continuing with 9" aluminum torpedo level day, here is this vintage level by Hall Level & Mfg. Works out of New Orleans, Louisiana. I see that Hall operated out of Austin, Texas, certainly in 1948 (see last picture), but that Hall had been in business since 1913. I don't know whether New Orleans was before or after Austin.
Hall advertised that their aluminum was forged, and therefore stronger. I will say that at 6.7 ounces on my scale, this level is about 2 to 2-1/2 ounces heavier than your average aluminum torpedo level.
Aluminum tools always look bad after they have had a life, and this level is no exception, so look carefully at the pictures.
The 3 vials all work fine. I do believe that the 4 bolts that hold the top plate are old replacements. They are non-magnetic, probably stainless.
