The artist,Carolyn Grossé Gawarecki, has expertly used watercolors to capture the beauty of the East Falls Church, Virginia train station that once served the W&OD line.

Original watercolor on heavy art paper.
Signed in lower right in watercolor artist iconograph.
Painting is 13 3/4 x 9 3/4 inches, with off white mat, under glass.
Bonus painting on reverse of a winter scene.
Simple, medium brown wood frame is 21 x 17.
Provenance and information on back.
Believed to be an early work from the 1960-1970s as the station depicted was demolished in 1970.
All in excellent vintage condition.

About the Artist

Carolyn Grossé Gawarecki (1941 - ), NWS, WHS, is a nationally recognized Virginia artist with paintings in museums, galleries, and corporate and private collections. She received a B.A. in Art Education, Douglass College; and continued graduate studies in Art at University of California, Berkeley andUniversityof Colorado, Boulder. Recipient of more than 100 awards locally and nationally. Founder and first President of the Potomac Valley Watercolorists art society. She was a popular watercolor teacher and frequently demonstrated her techniques for art groups. She has led numerous workshops in the United States and worldwide.
