An original hand-tinted sixth plate ambrotype photograph, contained in the bottom half of a leather-backed case (top half of case not present), c1870, of a smartly-dressed boy in a suit, sitting in chair with a book on the table next to him. His bow tie has been hand-tinted in blue, and his cheeks in rouge. In good overall condition. Some dust under the glass. A little wear to the case.
Size (inc. case): sixth plate - case approx. 3¾ x 3¼in, photograph slightly smaller.
