These 4 old sepia toned 4 1/2 by 2 3/4 inch snapshot is from the estate ofMaurice Wesley Joppie and Eleanor M. Powers Joppie. The Powers and the Joppies were farming families from the Lansing and Shelby areas in Michigan. There was a photo album from the 40\'s and 30\'s, but these photos came from a group of loose photos with no names or dates written on them. I think that they date from the 1920\'s. All of these images show young children involved in the work of the farm. In one, 2 men and a child stand in a ploughed field with sees setters. In another a man is ploughing a deep furrow and a child in a straw hat sits on the horse drawn plough with his hands over his eyes. Another image has a dark skinned child holding on to a rope behind a large horse. In the last a man stands in a row boat holding a fish on the line, a little girl sitting beside him. Though small the images are clear. The photo with the boy and the horse has a torn corner.See my other listings for more of these photos.
