c 1910 Antique Wedgwood Berry & Leaf Tea Set for One, Staffordshire

This is an elegant and rare antique individual creamware enameled Berry & Leaf Pattern Tea Set for One made by Wedgwood, c 1910.Sometimes referred to as a ‘Bachelor Set’ it is smaller than a regular tea set, with the purpose to provide a Tea Set for One.

The backstamps show James Powell & Sons, Whitefriars Glass Works FC 12 Conduit St. W London, and the Wedgwood Etruria mark, as well as the embossed ‘WEDGWOOD.’

It has a flanged Helmet style tea pot that would have been typical in the late 18th century.Hand decorated with green leaves, red berries, and with brown edge and ring accents, it is marked with ‘A4875’ pattern number and the designer’s mark. This set was probably modeled and designed specifically for James Powell & Sons to retail or as a special offering or joint project.James Powell & Sons were established in 1834 and specialized in glass, making fine stained glass windows in Britain.

This Tea Set for One or Bachelor Tea Set consists of:

(1)Teapot with Lid:6.5” W x 4” D x 4” H

(1)Open Sugar Bowl:2.875” Diameter x 1.75” H

(1)Creamer:3.875” W x 3” D x 2.75” H

(1)Cup:3.5” W x 2.675” D x 2.25” H

(1)Saucer:4.675” Diameter

Please ignore the white reflections in the photos. This Tea Set for One was used and has a very slight loss of color on some of the edges, and otherwise is in excellent condition.Crazing, and slight variation due to the hand-painted design of this set, may appear, but nothing that diminishes the display value.Presented as is and as found.
