the elongated quatrefoil dish/bowl
do note! the wide gold border has loss to the gold (probably from being around so long). see second image. otherwise, i can find no issues. pretty hand painted antique elongated quatrefoil-shaped antique limoges dish. i believe the shape of the dish is quite unusual, particularly for the time period, as i haven\'t really encountered many. from looking at the marks, and from what i can try to decipher about (more on marks below), the dish blank may have been manufactured in another european country [based on the «coronet» mark (more on that below)] but then decorated in limoges by mavaleix, mandavy & balleroy (aka balleroy et cie) during the 1908–14 period. [according to infofaience.com/en/marks/limoges-marks, this «bmdem» mark was used 1908–1914 by mavaleix, mandavy & balleroy (aka balleroy et cie)]. the dish is painted with classic victorian/edwardian pink, yellow, and orange roses. on the long axis, from rim to rim the dish is 6 3/4\". on its short axis, from rim to rim, the quatrefoil dish is 5 1/4\". the rim is 1 1/4\" from the surface on which the plate rests. the porcelain is about 1/8\" thick.the markings are (see last image)

about mavaleix, mandavy & balleroy (aka balleroy et cie)(from: balleroy bought in limoges in the year 1900 a factory called «de l\'immobilière». it was located at rue charpentier 23/25. in 1904 leon mandavy and paul maurice de mavaleix joined the business. the company name became balleroy et cie.in 1908 business partners went separate ways. de mavaleix continued activity at the place alone. brothers henri and antoine balleroy changed location and started another balleroy et cie company. they managed it together till 1929, when henri remained alone. he continued producing porcelain till 1937.about the «coronet» mark on limoges porcelain (from: limoges generally refers to the maker\'s mark that appeared on the back of selected limoges porcelain items. this particular mark is linked to limoges porcelain ware manufactured in europe and decorated in studios in limoges, paris andgermany before being exported overseas. as its name suggests, the mark is a crown with the brand name «coronet», usually in green or blue colors.george borgfeldt, an importer based in new york, brought coronet limoges to the united states. his line of wares included plaques and plates ornately decorated in the limoges tradition and bearing the signature of the artist. many items of coronet limoges date from the period 1906 to 1920. the borgfeldt company was in business from around 1881 to 1976.he was born in meldorf, germany, in 1833, and immigrated to america in 1855. he established a trading company in nashville in 1861 and moved to new york in 1881, where he founded the borgfeldt trading company. his coronet maker\'s mark was not exclusive to limoges. it was also used as a mark for pottery imported from czechoslovakia. «coronet registered czechoslovakia»among the most popular themes of Limoges porcelain ware were flowers, in particular roses, and fruit. game birds, fish, shellfish, natural scenes and animals were other themes of limoges porcelain ware.
