Historic Walt Disney Treasures from Saturday\'s Toys presents... a seldom offered authentic treasure direct from the Disney Family Farm in Marceline, Missouri... the boyhood hometown of Walt Disney.

Walt\'s father, Elias Disney, had purchased 45 acres of land ($75 per acre; with abundant fruit orchards, grain fields, a barn, and a single story farm house built before Marceline was founded in 1888) during the spring of 1906 from Sarah M. Crane (1833 - 1910) widow of Civil War Veteran William E. Crane (1842 - 1905). The couple is buried at Mount Olivet Cemetery in Marceline. Notably, Crane was captured by the Confederate army on July 1, 1863... the first day of the battle at Gettysburg.

The Disney family would live on the farm for only four years, from 1906 thru 1910, when they sold the farm and moved to a rented house in Marceline until their return to Kansas City in 1911.

Walt Disney\'s \"Dreaming Tree\" is well known among Disney fans and historians as the special place on his family\'s former farm where Walt Disney would watch over his little sister, Ruth, and draw, create stories, and dream. So important was this beloved tree that when Walt and Roy returned to Marceline in 1956... \"he visited his farm, saw the \"Dreaming Tree\" and excitedly exclaimed, \"It\'s still there!\" With press photographers close by, Walt and his older brother Roy (in their business suits) visited the tree and its adjacent creek to relive their own youthful memories of that hallowed space.

While the cottonwood tree was struck by lightning and eventually fell during a windstorm in 2015, the remaining bark from the tree was carefully removed and preserved. In the years since that time, sections of the bark have been presented to Lifetime Members of the Walt Disney Hometown Museum (Marceline) and to other select individuals, groups and organizations sharing in the preservation of Disney history.

The actual bark from Walt\'s \"Dreaming Tree\" measures approx. 1.75\" long x 1.2\" wide\" x .75\" thick; and is mounted on a 5\" x 7\" double-sided card, as shown. Presented in original resealable cellophane packaging. Item has never been removed from packaging, though it is noted that the lower right corner where the bark is mounted has developed a slight curl as the bark is thicker than would have originally been planned for packaging of this size. However, this is the largest piece of bark that we\'ve seen; and carries the same DNA that would have once provided shade for the Disney children at the creek that ran through the family farm in Marceline.

Name of original recipient is obscured for this sale, but is disclosed on original card, unaltered. Our final available offering of this unique Disney treasure.
