Offered here is a WWII Sterling H-H Hilborn Hamburger 1942/43 Oak Leaf 5/8" US Armed Services Officer's pin (lapel or hat?). Weight is 1.89 grams. The hallmark is an incised H-H inside a small eagle with Sterling underneath. Please understand I am NOT a military collectible expert. After researching many oak leaf pins and from comparing this pin to my father's WWII US Army Eisenhower Jacket pins (he served in the 164th infantry squadron in Guadalcanal and earned the rank of Major), I think this pin is for a higher rank than Major. Dad's oak leaf pins are brass and are on the shoulders. Most of the sterling silver pins on and other sites are listed as Army Lt. Colonel, USMC Commander and some Navy officers. I hope someone here will know. As to the Hilborn markings, some great information was on a military collectible site which surmises the H-H hallmark this pin places it in 1942/43 when Hilborn Hamburger purchased Imperial Mfg. Co and for this brief period of time Imperial still made some markings with their older, smaller eagle hallmark but with H-H's name inside the eagle. This is the best I can do with trying to ID this pin. The pin is pristine and the pin back works great. Please view the photos. They are very accurate and this is the exact pin you will receive. I know this is a long description, but this pin represents a very special time in our country's history.Shipping is free. Sales tax required for California residents. Thank you for looking!
