WWII USAAF Flyers Armor Flak Vest Type M5 Groin Apron. The apron is in excellent condition - looks to be new old stock.
Manufactured by Crawford Manufacturing Co. Inc. Contract number: W-36-034-Ord-368. Lot 40.
Here's a description of the item from a reference book I have:
Armor, Flyer's Groin, M-5 (T13) The M-5 apron was tested in January 1944 with the 8th Air Force under the name of T13 and went into service in March 1944. Comprising of three parts, it was designed for use by sitting flight personnel as well as waist gunners. It weighed 6.92 kg (15 Lb 4 oz). Only 109,901 were produced, making it the scarcest of the three apron types.
