For sale is an original vintage photo that was taken at the Republican Aviation plant in Evansville, Indiana, during World War II. It shows Republic employees at an event celebrating the 15,000th P-47 Thunderbolt fighter plane being built. More than 15,600 Thunderbolts were manufactured during the war, including 6,242 in Evansville. The 5,000 men and women employees of Republic Aviation made up an essential part of Evansville’s WWII defense industry. This black-and-white photo measures 6 3/4 by 9 inches and is in very good condition. The four corners are glued to a white cardboard background.
