I am listing an original WWII German M42 helmet. The shell is marked faintly HKP ?? and the heat stamp 5430 which puts it in the 1944 range. I measured the shell and it's a 62. With an inspection mirror I can read IKA44 on one of the split pins. The previous owner appears to have bead blasted only the outer part of the shell, not the inside. I believe he never removed the liner when he did it, the split pins don't look like they have been messed with, I believe the liner assembly has never been removed and is what the helmet was born with. Leather about 70% there, dry but stable.
That being said I gave it a nice spray paint outside only using quality "1944 Miitaria" Feldgrau Dunkel which is a decent match to the original paint on the inside of the shell and proper color that was used 1944-45.
The last picture shows helmet when I received it before I painted it, bare metal, bead blasted gray, no rust.
A great original helmet, overall, in solid shape, looks great, would make a nice display.
