Stromberg Pressure Injection Carburetor PD-12 F13

One Bendix-Stromberg Pressure Injection Carburetor type PD-12-F-13 as built for specific use on the Pratt & Whitney R-2000 radial engine that powered the WWII Douglas C-54 \"Skymaster\" transport airplane.

Data plate information reads:

STROMBERG INJECTION CARBURETOR

SERIAL NO. 839128 A

MODEL PD 12 F13

PARTS LIST NO. 390897 - 2

MADE IN U.S.A.

BENDIX AVIATION CORP. SOUTH BEND, IND.

This one - largely complete - offered in core condition. As is it\'d make a good display if you have a radial or WWII Allison V-12 in-line engine to hang it on. I do not see any pieces removed from it.

Condition is LISTED AS arc AS WE HAVE NO PAPERWORK TO PURPORT THE OH. I see no drop damage to it, and it has been warehouse stored since we received it. This one isn\'t locked up solid from having been out in the rain or snow or mud. It\'s not perfect, but it was at least warehouse stored in an Arizona warehouse. As a core, you\'d have to fully tear it down and rebuild it for anything other than a ground-run example engine. The open ends of the carburetor had been intentionally capped or sealed with metal tape to keep out dust and moisture. There\'s still a little packing oil on the threaded end of the altitude compensator. The main linkage moves freely and all moving parts move properly like you\'d expect them to. Again, consider this one a good display unit or parts source.

NO PAPERWORK. No tags, no other packing slips or any pedigree. Just one heavy used carb. No modifications visible. .No abuse or drop damage.Nothing appears to have been removed or raided from this carburetor. Red spray paint hash mark denoted it as a \"used\" or \"as removed\" carb from the former owners warehouse rack inventory. Still safety wired together. It\'s dirty. A good soak in a Varsol product will clean it right up. Looks like it had been OH\'ed - probably for the military - by Spartan in the 1950s or 1960s. Note the water transfer sticker on it.

The PD-12 series was a common radial engine carburetor from WWII and used by US military through the 1970s. You\'d have found this carb on nine and fourteen cylinder radials, and even similar types on the V-1710 Allison V-12. It was a multi-use pressure injection carburetor that was used on fighters, transports, bombers, and even helicopters. This one - certainly the PDK series carburetor for the 1820 or 1830 series radial aircraft engine (single row and double row).

Shipping data - and this is important. This carburetor is HEAVY. It\'s a 50 pound box measuring roughly 24-18-18 inches from UPS or FedEx Ground from Mesa, AZ, 85201 to YOUR destination. Before you offer, you may want to explore TRUE SHIPPING COST to your location via the websites of either shipper. Note that \'s shipping calculator is traditionally NWAS. If you don\'t know what NWAS is, ask your buddy. \'s ship cost calculator is historically wildly inaccurate and typically charges MORE than true shipping costs. But please note as a seller I have ZERO CONTROL OF SHIPPING COSTS to you beyond what FedEx or UPS will charge. You as a buyer can save anywhere from $5-$10 on shipping cost by having this box sent to you at a business versus home address. Neither agent will deliver to a PO box. You are welcome to pick this up at NO cost at KFFZ Falcon Field Airport in Mesa, AZ with prior arrangement.

Before you offer, please look at photos. Understand that returns are accepted, BUT shipping back to us in on YOU. Let\'s not walk down that path if we don\'t have to, OK?

What you see in the photo series is representative what you get. Shipscheapest UPS or FedEx Ground unless you request otherwise. Item is NOT offered for sale internationally. Please do not ask for non-CONUS sales or international shipping rates. Questions? Please ask seller. And thanks for looking!
