I bought this at the flea market in Chemnitz, Germany in April of this year. This is a WW2 German army Hand-crank Air-raid siren. Get it winding and then release the muffler plate with a twist and you'll get a sound that can be heard a mile away. (I have made photos of the front of the siren showing the muffler plate in the open and closed position) The plate on the back indicates it was produced by "Elektror" G.M.B.H. in Essling /Neckar. (near Stuttgart) The Elektror company of Karl W. Muller was in business since 1922 and during the war it recieved contracts for air-raid sirens of several sizes. You can Google this information on line. The siren is about 30 inches tall. The tripod is bolted on with two 14mm bolts. Most likely I will have to remove the tripod for shipping but all you need to do will be to insert the two bolts and tighten with a 14mm wrench. (this is the way that I sent this siren home last month.)You will see in the photos that the muffler plate rotates on the axis of a small bolt at the front-top of the face. That bolt was missing when I got this. You can replace it at any home depot store. This siren is fully functional as it is and it's 100% original pre-1945 in every regard.
