For sale here is an unknown, but early European Helmet. This came out of a large military collection, but this could also be a racing helmet. But from the looks of it, this is a WW1 or Pre WW2 Era European Tanker, Crash, Flight, or Dispatch Rider Helmet. If you know what this is, please let me know, and i will update the listing. The helmet is made of stiff canvas, and it feels like the canvas is stretched over cork or some other stiff formed material. The upper helmet canvas was like the same color as the ear covers upon issue, but it was painted a darker green long ago. The helmet show wear and age since the painting. The top rear of the helmet has two vent holes that appear to be brass, but they have been painted green as well. The lower canvas neck and ear covers is dark khaki or light green. Each side has 3 metal grommets to allow for better hearing. These grommets have heavy corrosion, but are likely brass. The chin strap was to be held in place with 2 chrome plated D-Rings on each side. These also show some rust. The back of the neck cover has internal padding. Inside, the helmet is lined in khaki cotton with a top drawstring. The number O8175 is written here. Underneath this lining sweatband material is an old black rubber banding that has good flex. This rubber is worn away in the front of the helmet. The top of the helmet is lined in white cotton. There is an old blue marking in the dome of the helmet, but nothing can be made out. The helmet is small and is likely a 6 3/4 or 6 7/8. If you know what this helmet is, please let me know, and i will update the listing.
