These medals are a reproduction of the full size medals and are provided with ribbons, ready for mounting or displaying. The1914–15 Staris acampaign medalof the British Empirewhich was awarded to officers and men of British and Imperial forces who served in any theatre of theFirst World Waragainst the Central European Powersduring 1914 and 1915. The medal was never awarded singly and recipients also received the British War Medal and Victory Medal. The originalBritish War medalwas 1oz of solid silver. This is acampaign medal of theUKwhich was awarded to officers and men of British and Imperial forces for service in theFirst World War.Two versions of the medal were produced. About 6.5 million were struck in silver and 110,000 in bronze, the latter awarded to, among others, the Chinese, Maltese and Indian Labour Corps. TheVictory Medal(also called theInter-Allied Victory Medal) is aUK and British Empirecampaign medal of World War One.The award of a common allied campaign medal was recommended by an inter-allied committee in March 1919.Each allied nation would design a 'Victory Medal' for award to their own nationals, all issues having certain common features, including a winged figure ofvictoryon the obverse and the same ribbon.Fourteen countries finally awarded the medal.
