Abeautiful collectible set of U.S. postage stampsissued in 1948 to honor George L. Fox, Clark V. Poling, John P. Washington, Alex D. Goode (two ministers, a priest and a rabbi) who sacrificed their lives when they gave their live preservers to others when the SS Dorchester sunk on February 3rd 1943.

The stamps feature a portrait of the men, the SS Dorchester as she was sinking, a life preserver in the water and is printed in black to remember the dark incident.

These stamps have never been used and are as fresh as the day they were sold at the Post Office over 70 years ago! Suitable for framing, they would make a greatgift for anyone who collects WW II memorabilia!
