You are offerding on one W H Pond small compassed wood rabbet plane as pictured.

The body is marked \"W H POND - NEW HAVEN\" on the front end, and unmarked on the back end.

The iron is not marked.

The body is about 1\" in width, and is about a 32nd under 6-1/2\" in length.

The iron isabout a 32nd over 1\" in width. The iron is not skewed in the body.

It cuts a radius of roughly 5-1/2\" at the throat, and the curvature of the bottom flattens out towards the back end.

There is a large screw installed in the back end. No clue why, as nothing seems to be cracked.

Wadsworth H Pond made planes in New Haven, Connecticut, off and on under his name from 1844 to 1890, and was also in three partnerships during that time span. Please see the book American Wooden Planes 5th Edition (or the 4th) for more information about him, and it rates this mark as one star for rarity.

Condition is good to very good, with good color. There are a variety of scratches and dings in the wood, less in the profile area than on the sides. The iron has some bits of pitting.

The iron and wedge both appear to be original to the plane.

USPS POSTAGE RATE INCREASES: I use the Post Office for everything, and yes, the shipping charges just keep going up and up. The Post Office now has several prices increases during each year, raising a few things but not everything at each increase. And they now raise their rates during the Holidays, which means early October to late January. Their big increases are in January, timed to start at the end of the Holiday rates, and this year is no exception. And it\'s not just the postage rates, the insurance charges and the delivery signature charges have also gone up. There is now a surcharge for Priority Mail packages over 20\" long, and another for Priority Mail packages over 30\" long, because those longer packages won\'t fit in their automatic machines. And the Post Office has discontinued the Regional Flat Rate boxes, which were often less expensive for certain sizes and weights.I try to pick the best shipping option for each listing, based both on what is the least expensive and on what I think is needed to protect the item. If the value is $250 or over, requires your signature at delivery for the buyer and seller protections to be in effect.

SALES TAX: Interstate sales tax is now the reality on all the major selling websites including . If I ship to a state where is required to collect sales tax, will charge you the sales tax for your location.There is lots of information available from that explains it in much more detail.
