William Henry Jackson stereoview from theHayden Survey \"Out West\" series, shows their camp in the Snake RiverValley at the base of the Teton Range. William H. Jackson wasa photographer accompanying the U.S. Geological and Geographical Survey of theTerritories directed by Ferdinand V. Hayden. The photographs reflectedthe survey\'s activities in Nebraska, Wyoming, Colorado, Utah, Idaho, andMontana. Although Yellowstone National Park is emphasized, other prominentlandmarks include Pike\'s Peak, Garden of the Gods, Long\'s Peak, Berthod Pass,Mountain of the Holy Cross, Uintah Mountains, and the Badlands. {500 Series}Theseviews encompass not only the Yellowstone, but the Tetons and other localesaround Yellowstone. On the right side they credit, \"Department of theInterior, U.S. Geological Survey of the Territories. Prof. F. V. Hayden inCharge.\" Some have no number and the titles are hand-written. There mayhave been several print runs. The left side describes each series within theoverall set. This is image #502 (in pencil on the back) & shows thesurvey’s tent encampment at the base of the Tetons. Images are clean and sharp.Very mild mount wear. See scans.
