Vintage Indian Chief / Warrior Profile 10\" Plaque - Cast Aluminum?
Decorative wall indoor/outdoor plaque or sign piece. I\'m not really sure what I have here. It was salvaged from a wood sign that I bought about 20 years ago and had displayed on my fence. It was worn when I got it and now the wood part of the sign has completely fallen apart from exposure and just this plaque survives as it is made of either cast aluminum or some kind of white metal that made it fairly durable, even after being exposed outdoors for many years. Since the sign fell apart, I\'ve had it hanging on a nail in the garage and not used it for anything else, so offering it up here hoping to find him a new home. The paint does show a lot of wear, but it protected the mold pretty well, and although the features may have softened from exposure to the elements, there is still a lot of strong definition.
It\'s been around for some time, but not marked, and the age could be anywhere from 40 to 80 years. The backside has a post in the center that is about the size of a piece of rebar (it is what the string is tied around in the photo) and on top of that post there is a blob of metal that was cast to the end of the bar post and it appears to me that this \"blob\" was cut thru when it was originally removed from something else before it was mounted to the wood sign it was on when I bought it.
The particulars: Measures right at 10 inches tall, and the widest part is 9.25 inches. Depth is about 1\"-1.25\". Has some weight to it, definitely not a flimsy metal. Bare naked weight is 1 pound, 12 ounces.
Beats me of its original purpose when it was made, but still an interesting decorative piece.
