Vintage Japanese Geisha Maiko Doll—Down Hair, Flower Crown, Shamisen Lute:
$325.00

This is a very special and lovely doll, with some key features you just don’t see often. Discover the beauty of traditional Japanese craftsmanship with this exquisite vintage Maiko Geisha in training doll. Standing 13.5 inches tall (14 inches with the base), this doll is a rare and unique find with several unusual features that set it apart:

• Human, Realistic Appearance: Unlike typical geisha dolls, this beauty features flowing hair adorned with a delicate crown of colorful flowers, adding a touch of elegance and charm. The floral hair accessory is such a beautiful and well crafted touch, rare indeed.

• Handcrafted Silk Kimono: The doll is dressed in a beautifully detailed silk kimono, showcasing traditional Japanese patterns and vibrant colors.

Please note there is some fading where the clothing was exposed to sun, while she perched for decades in my great aunt’s home. My auntie was a teacher in Japan from the 1920s to 1950s and she brought this doll home when she returned to the states. Non smoking home and very clean overall.

• Genuine Wooden Shamisen: The doll holds a meticulously crafted lacquered shamisen lute, complete with accurate construction, making it a standout piece.

• Intricate Detailing: From the delicate hand-painted face to the intricate design of the kimono, every detail is carefully crafted to reflect traditional Japanese artistry.

This Maiko doll is not just a collectible; it’s a piece of art that embodies the cultural heritage and craftsmanship of Japan. Perfect for collectors of Japanese folk art, this doll will be a treasured addition to any collection.

Condition:

The doll is in excellent vintage condition, with some fading as shown on the silk garments. The colors remain vibrant, and the detailing is pristine, reflecting the care taken in its creation and preservation.
