We are delighted to offer this vintage miniature replica Kabuto helmet, a type of helmet worn by ancient Japanese warriors, samurai. This miniature replica helmet is solid and historically-accurate. It is designed after the helmets worn by Kusunoki Masashige (楠木正成, 1294-1336). Traditional kabuto ornament is designed to be displayed on an alcove, tokonoma, in a traditional Japanese tatami room. They are small enough to fit into limited spaces. This piece was made in Takaoka-shi, Japan, and measures approximately 6” high x 7” diameter. It is gently used, showing minimal wear, though the tassel could use a good cleaning.

As a brilliant tactician and strategist, Kusunoki Masashige was a 14th-century samurai who fought for Emperor Go-Daigo in his attempt to wrest the control of Japan from the Kamakura shogun, and was later regarded as a patriotic hero.
