This is a vintage 1960s tile trivet cheese snack charcuterie board tray by Mid Century artist Fred Press. Fred Press kitchen/barware designs were similar to the style of Georges Briard. Both created trivet cheese boards with whimsical designs for decor and serving. This cheese board is in the shape of a pear, the wood is in excellent condition and was stored with care. The wood is still beautifully fresh looking...there are no darkened spots from water exposure, etc. There are no darkened water stains, no splinters or separation in the wood. It is hard to believe this piece is 60+ years old. The ceramic tile trivet is in excellent condition, no crazing and no cracks, no stains. The vividly painted tile trivet design has an orange/pear/apple, the tile also featured the signature of Fred Press. The knife utensil chain is present and secure, it remains bright in color. No odors. Stamped Sere Wood Hand-carved on the back.
Measurements: 9 1/2 inches tall and 7 inches across. The measurement of the ceramic tile is 6 inch diameter. 3/4 inch side thickness.
