Vintage sewing pattern. New York Styles 1172. Bust 38, hip 41. Very good to excellent condition; pattern pieces are unused, in original factory fold. Pattern is complete with envelope and original glassine sleeve. The instructions are printed on the inside of the envelope. \"Ladies\' and Misses\' Dress The dress is closed in front and under the left arm. Waist has lapped-over fronts with attached collars in either of two styles, or with one-sided rever. Removable vestee, and two styles of set-in sleeves are provided. Attached two-piece circular skirt. Width at lower edge of skirt, size 36, about 2 yards. Length of dress at center-back from neck to lower edge, including 3-inch hem, 52 inches.\" Glassine sleeve reads: \"FRISCH DEPARTMENT STORE INCORPORATED DRY GOODS, LADIES\' READY-TO-WEAR, LADIES\' AND MEN\'S FURNISHINGS AND SHOES ANOKA, MINNESOTA\". The glassine sleeve is marked Ladies Home Journal but the pattern is NOT marked as such.This is one of our favorite patterns ever! This early thirties beauty is the kind of dress Nora Charles would have worn. Myrna probably would have skipped the modesty panel at the neckline (vestee). The seams on the long sleeve version make this garment extra smart. A couple of things to note: there are very, very few patterns marked \"New York Style\" and the glassine sleeve has the eagle symbol from the National Recovery Act and a three digit phone number. One cannot get more thirties than that! Think Myrna Loy, Ann Dvorak, Kay Francis, Irene Dunne and Norma Shearer. This pattern is an important piece of sewing and garment history.
