Original Vintage Holland America matted print - with matt, this measures 8 ½” x 11”

Very nice Image – from circa 1920s

Condition: Good condition – please note that this has some previous long ago water exposure on the left side – you can tell easiest by looking at the back side - the matt has a few edge chips - please review the photos

TheSSStatendamwas a Dutchpassenger shipbuilt byHarland and Wolfffor theHolland America Lineas a replacement for thesecondStatendamwhich was sunk after being torpedoed six times on 19–20 July 1918.

The ship was laid down in 1921. but due to the changes in American emigration laws and shortages of steel in England, construction of the ship was slow and the ship would not be completed until 1929.

DuringWorld War 2the ship was still in service until she was called back to the Netherlands. On 11 May 1940 during theGerman invasion of the Netherlandsthe ship caught fire and was declared a total loss.
