Vintage Yellow Gold Sigma Chi Fraternity Sweetheart ring circa 1940:

This is a small ring at size 4 3/4. It was given to my mother by her first husband while he was in Medical School at Vanderbilt University. This would have been around 1940. He later became a pediatrician and child psychiatrist at Stanford University. It is inscribed with his pet name for her \"Mecca\" as his way of saying he worshipped her. There is something else printed inside that I can\'t make out.
I want to bring to your attention the triangular areas on each side of the upper corners of the cross. They are both open. I notice on other Sigma Chi pins that area is also open with a chain across. I don\'t know if there were ever stones in this one or not.
