Vintage Winchester No 3006 Corrugated Sole Plane, Stanley 4-1/2 Size, Wide Heavy:

Rare model 3006 corrugated sole Winchester plane. It is approx 10 inches long with a blade width of 2-3/8 inches.

It was manufactured approximately 1925 or so, about 100 years ago by Sargent Manufacturing co for Winchester firearms company.

Metal bed and all other metal parts are excellent, no cracks breaks, or repairs. I placed a straight edge along several areas of the sole and it is flat and straight with zero warping.

The size is the same as Sargents #410 or Stanley’s Model 4-1/2, the corrugated sole is uncommon on this already hard to find plane.

The tropical Hardwood handles are in good condition although the rear tote has a tight and firm repair about midway. The front knob is fine.

The blade is a thicker and tapered Ohio brand replacement (see photos) It has been freshly sharpened with the correct 25 degree bevel. The chip breaker has been flattened where it meets up with the blade.

This plane works smoothly and without “chatter” due to the heavier blade. All adjustments move and work smoothly.

Excellent collectible user.

thrives and I enjoy properly oiling/waxing, cleaning or refurbishing, if needed those same vintage woodworking tools.

My goal is to place as many

of these high quality made in the USA vintage hand tools back into

the hands of today’s craftsmen. I would never “part out” a good tool just for the proceeds. If the tool I have acquired is serviceable I will put it into as good of condition it can be and sell to friends or on . All I am trying to
