Here at 'Get M1 For The Road', we're big fans of ALL things M1 helmet related! Lately we've found ourselves with too many M1 items and not enough free space, so it's time to thin the herd a bit. Our loss is your gain! Up for grabs - right here, right now, right away -is an M1 shell from the 1940's (WWII Era).Further details are listed below:Details:This shell is solid, but it's seen some action. Without further adieu, here are all of the particulars:SHELL: This one was made by McCord between 1941 and 1945. The heat stamp reads '657B'. There's a hole near the top and I assume that it's from shrapnel as it's not round like a bullet hole. There's also a dent near the crown. At some point, it was repainted a lime green. After that, it looks like someone tried to sand off the paint and cork texture, but stopped halfway through. ("Sanding this helmet sure is... hey, look! SQUIRREL!") I can't say for certain that it saw action in WWII (Or Korea... Or Vietnam), but it definitely COULD have.
STRAPS: They are missing, but the bails/loops are still pretty straight. Feel free to sew some reproductions on!
IN CONCLUSION:Aside from the dent and partially sanded paint, it's in good shape and there's nothing broken (like the loops/bails or rim). There are no cracks - just scratches, chips, and rust. I REALLY hope that someone out there can restore this guy to his former glory! It's 'been there', so please look carefully at all of the photos before you even THINK about buying - I don't do refunds.NOTE:I usually have a number of other items listed as well.
