Here at 'Get M1 For The Road', we're big fans of ALL things M1 helmet related! Lately we've found ourselves with too many M1 items and not enough free space, so it's time to thin the herd a bit. Our loss is your gain! Up for grabs - right here, right now, right away -is an M1 shell from the late 60's (Vietnam War Era) and a newer liner.Further details are listed below:Details:This helmet is complete (aside from the chin straps), but it's been through a lot. It's seen some action, no doubt.This is a good 'bargain helmet' if you just want to have one to wear and display. (The cover is NEARLY new and looks great! Plus it's cheaper than most Chinese made "Replicas". This is the real deal, folks.)Without further adieu, here are all of the details:IN GENERAL:I've had the liner (hardhat) and shell (lid) for awhile, but I'm trying to trim the fat abit.I'm selling the liner & lid together, but on top of that, I'm including a cover and band for FREE. They are probably European (well, non-USA at any rate). Keep them on the helmet or don't, they're free regardless. (They were given to me recently, but I have no use for them - perhaps YOU do.)
LINER: This one is a green vinyl version of the'P73' model and is in pretty good overall condition. It was made by Consolidated Molded Plastics in 1983. There's a stamp in the crown which reads "7-" with the CMP logo under it. The headband is from 1986 while the nape strap and suspension are from '85. The only major(-ish) flaws with this liner are A) The front has a decal that some kid-iot put on. This is NOT a USGI Sergeant 1st Class (SFC) decal... but it doesn't look too bad, however. B) The liner doesn't fit perfectly into the shell (which is typical of these nylon ones). It's not a BAD fit, just not a perfect one. Please view the last pic. You can probably jam it down farther, but I didn't want to make it so tight that you couldn't take them apart.SHELL: This one was made by the Parish Division of the Dana Corp. between 10/68 & 8/69. The heat stamp reads '6043'. There are no chin straps, but the loops/bails are a bit mangled anyway (and each has a popped weld on one end). Also, there's some missing paint and a couple of big dents.(You can use the cover to hide them, or display it nekkid to show off its battle scars.)As I mentioned before, this shell's been through a lot. I can't say for CERTAIN that it saw action in Vietnam, but it definitely COULD have.
IN CONCLUSION: It's in good shape and there's nothing torn or broken off (like the webbing or loops/bails). It's 'been there', so please look carefully at all of the photos before you even THINK about buying - I don't do refunds.NOTE:I usually have a number of other items listed as well.
