ORIGINAL 'UNIVERSITY OF ILLINOIS - MEMORIAL STADIUM' ETCHINGThis is just a great original piece. I bought this etching purely because of the subject. Though I have never been to this football stadium, I have been to quite a few other major college football stadiums and have had some great times at those places. As a result, I would think that there are many people that have some incredible memories of this great stadium, and would want a wonderful print of this location. This print is unsigned anywhere I can find. It looks like the work of Louis Orr who did many etchings of colleges throughout America (I am offering one from Dartmouth in my store right now). I cannot confirm this as I cannot find another example anywhere on the internet. This is a wonderful view of the stadium in what I would guess is within the first decade of its creation. The stadium was built in 1921, there is a car in the image lower right, that looks like it dates to the 1930s or so. Really a wonderful image. Etching image measures 3 1/2 x 5 1/2 inches on complete original sheet. The sheet has been attached into the original matte with some old adhesive on the front in the margin. It has come loose all but one corner. Really just a great example of what I believe is a rare print. Original matte and black frame are complimentary and ready to hang. Frame measures 8 x 10 inches.
