Vintage U.S. Army Mess Kit 4" Steak Knife - 1940-1945:

This is a vintage US Army issued mess kit knife. My father served in the US Army from 1939 until 1955 (in Germany and Korea), and this was issued to him during that time period, but I can't otherwise verify the date. There is a code "0985" stamped into the handle, but I don't know what that means. It is definitely not from 1985 because I know that this knife if from an earlier period.
