Sheaffer was (and continues to be) one of the most highly regarded fountain pen companies and were particularly known for their well made gold nibs. This particular pen was likely made in the very late 1940\'s or early 1950\'s (1950-1952ish) and was called the \"Admiral\" model. This was a mid-range pen with their #5 \"Feathertouch\" nib.
Features:
- Classy piano black plastic with gold plated trim. Thoroughly cleaned and gently polished.- Beautiful #5 \"Feathertouch\" dual tone 14k gold nib - it\'s somewhere between a modern medium and a fine, but I think it would have been considered a \"medium\" at the time. Good flow but has response. It\'s a little bouncy/soft but not flex or semi-flex.- Easy to use lever-filler - cleaned and restored with new sac. Ready to write!- Measures around 5 inches capped, it\'s on the smaller side but it is a very comfortable writer posted.
Condition Notes:
- Generally good condition! No cracks or damage but there are numerous scratches and little nibbles throughout the pen with one deeper scratch next to the clip (see pictures). It\'s a nice shiny pen.- \"Belly bulge\" around the lever. This is common with Sheaffer pens from this era, they are made with a somewhat soft plastic that is prone to scratches and shrinkage. That being said, this is a good example of this pen, there is very little deformation otherwise.- The cap band spins, little bit loose. The clip\'s plating is good but it looks a tiny bit bent, I wasn\'t able to capture it in a picture and it is not really visible.
Overall this is another very good \"starter\" vintage pen with a really pretty 14kt gold nib. It\'s a classy pen that wouldn\'t look out of place in any office.
