This vintage wooden egg is a stunning work of art, featuring intricate carvings and a beautiful stained finish. The egg is large in size, measuring 5 inches in height and 3 inches in width. It is thought to be of Russian origin, and was hand-carved in the early 20th century, around 1911-1940. (so we were told) possibly older.
Someone spent thousands of hours carving the 9th century Saint Methodius who is known for translating parts of the Bible into the Old Church Slavonic language for the first time, paving the way for the Christianization of Russia, and on the other side the double-headed eagle coat of arms.This is an amazing peace of art. It draws you in, something about the seen, Saint Methodius writing under the candle light with a quail pen, first letter in the book he is writing is B, \"Bible\", it\'s just a deep peace that amazed me when I seen itThe egg is perfect for collectors of unique decorative antiques, wood carvings, religious history, Russian and Christianity history etc .
