Oval shape measuring 8” x 6”.

In great condition with slight use marks. Bottom shows some shelf wear.

There are 5 of these plates they are are all similar in condition and and are Al marked in the same way.

Construction

The hotel was built on 15 acres of beach frontage and cost $4 million to construct. It was designed in a Spanish-Moorish style and painted pink, and was influenced by actor Rudolph Valentino.

Opening

The hotel opened on February 1, 1927 with a black-tie gala attended by over 1,200 people. The opening ceremonies also included dinner, dancing, a concert, and a pageant. The hotel quickly became a popular holiday destination and a favorite of celebrities like Marilyn Monroe, Clark Gable, and Frank Sinatra.

World War II

In 1941, the U.S. Navy leased the hotel to use as a rest and recreation center for the Pacific Fleet during World War II. The hotel reopened to the public in February 1947.

Other notable events

The site of the Royal Hawaiian was once home to Queen Kaahumanu's Summer Palace, which is now located in the hotel's Coconut Grove garden. The hotel has also been used as a set for several films.
