Vintage Royal Doulton+ Miniature Mugs Paddy, Merlin, Sleuth, Old Man Lot of 4:

This is a very nice lot of 4 miniature mugs—3 are Royal Doulton and one marked Japan. The set includes “Paddy”, “Merlin”, “Sleuth” and one unidentified as Hand Painted in Japan. I’ve seen the one made in Japan identified as an old lady and made in Occupied Japan. I’ll let you decide if it depicts a man or woman. I think Paddy has a hairline crack—you can’t feel it, it doesn’t leak and doesn’t go all the way thru the porcelain but want buyer to know it is possibly a flaw. NOTE: on further inspection, I now believe the hairline fracture was done in the production process because I noted the flaw was glazed over before the final firing. I see no other flaws. Please look at all photos as I consider them to be an important part of my description.

Addition research info: The Sleuth (based on Sherlock Holmes) is #D6639, registration was applied for and was introduced in 1972 as a limited addition. Merlin is #D6543, with a copyright in 1959. Irish Paddy is #D5753 was produced in the 1950’s. The mug made in Japan was identified as Floart China.
