This a rare U.S. leaflet, with Chinese/Old Japanesetext, made for distribution/air drops to Japanese soldiers and Chinese citizensnear the end of WW II.

As for this leaflet’s message, this is what atranslator reported to me…This leaflet is either written in Chinese or in whatis known as "Old Japanese", which used Chinese characters. Thisleaflet is dated April 5, but no year is given (based on the leaflet's contents,the year would be 1945). The basic translation of both sides of this leaflet:

"The war has become very tense. Tojo resigned theprevious year after the loss of Saipan. Eight months later, the Japanese armylost in the Philippines and Iwo Jima, and is now losing in Okinawa. The end isnear and the fight can’t continue. The Japanese prime minister decided todissolve the cabinet and form a new one, with a newly elected defenseminister."
